TEXAS VET LAB, INC.
BRIEF HISTORY AND MISSION STATEMENT
Texas
Vet Lab, Inc was established by Dr. W.H. (Bill) and Patsy Wohler with the
express purpose of developing innovative and improved biologics for the cattle
industry, with special emphasis on products for stocker/feeder calves . Texas
Vet Lab was incorporated and licensed in the State of Texas in 1977 and received
licensure by the USDA in 1981.
Texas
Vet Lab’s first accomplishment was the development of Poly-Bac® B.
Poly-Bac®
B
has matured over the years and is vastly improved over the original product;
which was no slouch in it’s day, being the first Mannheimia Haemolytica
containing biologic to be proven effective by modern test methods (Adviento et
al, CJVR, 1987).
Poly-Bac®
B now comes in multiple
formulas to meet the needs of the Stocker and Feeder Calf Industry
Details are shown on the following pages.
Texas
Vet Lab was the first and, so far as we know, the only company to incorporate
Mannheimia Haemolytica Type A6 along with the more prevalent Type A1 in a full
licensed product. This is our Super
Poly-Bac® B line of products.
According to diagnostic surveys, Mannheimia Haemolytica Type A6 has been
reported to have been isolated in up to 30% of calves suffering pneumonia caused
by M. haemolytica.
Texas
Vet Lab was also the first company to recognize the importance of Mycoplasma
bovis infection in stocker/feeder cattle and the first to gain a full
unconditional license for a Mycoplasma bovis product, Myco-Bac® B.
Most
recently, Texas Vet Lab has licensed a new line of bovine virus vaccines, both
live and killed, tailored to meet the needs of the stocker operator.
Texas
Vet Lab was one of the first and remains to be one of the few biologics
manufacturers to incorporate into our killed cattle vaccines a true water-in-oil
emulsion adjuvant (the standard for immuno-enhancing adjuvant systems).
Texas
Vet Lab pledges to continue to strive to produce innovative and improved
biologics for the cattle industry.
